Conference overview

The Rwanda National AIDS Control Commission (CNLS), in collaboration with MOH, MIGEPROF, MINIYOUTH, the United Nations in Rwanda and other Partners, has organised a Paediatric Conference on children infected and affected by HIV annually since 2005.

This conference provides a platform for the sharing of field experience, scientific research and achievements related to children and HIV. Most importantly, it enables

all stakeholders, including children themselves, to define key priority actions related to a specific theme. This year, participants have decided to come together to “Count down to 2015 targets for children and HIV- Achieving Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 6”.

This conference will focus on 4 programmatic areas which are Primary Prevention, Prevention of Mother-to-child HIV Transmission, Paediatric care and treatment, Protection of children infected or affected by HIV.

The aim of the conference is to discuss how the Government of Rwanda and its partners can address the bottlenecks in order to achieve the MDG 6.

This session is used as an advocacy platform where the participants from Government, Development partners’ group, Civil Society Organizations, Private Sector, children and youth receive information on the global, regional and national situation on children and AIDS in relation to the theme, the gaps, best practices and potential strategies that contribute to accelerate HIV prevention and AIDS impact mitigation.
